This artwork is an expression of our connections from the past to the present and into the future.
We have lived in this country for at least 2000 generations, and the symbols that I have used in this artwork characterize the complex nature of Aboriginal People and their relationships to place and people.
The tree represents strength and resources, shelter and sustenance for families, a gathering place to conduct business and seek agreements.
The design was also incorporated into VCAT’s Frankston office installation, with selected elements appearing on staff uniforms, carrying the artwork beyond the original piece and into the team’s everyday surroundings.
Original wooden artwork piece.
