WALL SHIELD MEDIUM - GARRNG GARRNG KOOKABURRA DESIGN
Traditionally malgarr ( shields ) were used with liyangayil ( fighting clubs) for hand to hand combat with our enemies. I have replicated the shape of these shields in my artwork. Garrng Garrng is the Taungwurrung name for the Kookaburra. It is a bird that is known for its distinctive laugh and is a skilled hunter with its large beak. You can often hear Garrng Garrng early in the morning, laughing in the distance. Hand crafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber.
