Pairs well with
Small Wide Parrying Malgarr (shield) with Barring Track Design, handcrafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber.
Traditionally, malgarr (shields) were used with liyangayil (fighting clubs) for hand-to-hand combat with our enemies. I have replicated the shape of these shields in my artwork.
Barring is a track that our old people used to walk to a different country. These tracks also formed part of a complex trade route system. Animals have their own tracks too, which we use to warranwgan (hunt) them.
All designs are based on traditional symbols from South East Australia. Each artefact comes with an information card about Mick Harding, the artist, as well as the artefact and its design.
