PARRYING SHIELD SMALL WIDE - WAA THE CROW DESIGN

Traditionally malgarr ( shields ) were used with liyangayil
(fighting clubs) for hand to hand combat with our enemies. 
I have replicated the shape of these shields in my artwork.

Waang the Crow is one of the Kulin moieties, is the Protector of our waterways and a well known trickster.
Waang's once white feathers turned black because he was burned by a fire. This fire started after he scattered the burning ends of firesticks, which he had stolen from the Seven Sisters.
He tricked the sisters by telling them that anthills were full of honey ants, which are their favorite food. But the anthills were really full of snakes. While the sisters were busy fighting off the snakes, Waang grabbed the burning ends of their firesticks so he could cook his yams.

Hand crafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber.
