PARRYING SHIELD MEDIUM WIDE - DEBERER BOGONG MOTH DESIGN
Parrying Malgarr Medium Wide with Deberer the Bogong Moth Design.
Traditionally malgarr ( shields ) were used with liyangayil
( fighting clubs) for hand to hand combat with our enemies.
I have replicated the shape ofthese shields in my artwork.
Deberer the Bogong Moth were gathered in the High Country
by our liwik (ancestors) during the biderap (dry season).
They are a very rich source of protein.
Hand crafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber.
All artefacts come with an information card.
The card has information about the artist, artefact and design.
All designs are based on traditional symbols from
South East Australia.
